The Dreaded "Hot Zone" In Your Home

Do you have a “HOT ZONE” in Your House? -- It Could Be an AC Problem

Proper air conditioning in Cleveland can be real life saver!  During our hot summer months, there’s nothing better than walking into your home and being refreshed by the drastic temperature change provided by your air conditioning unit.  Proper AC for a home is about more than having a cooling system that’s blowing out a sufficient amount of cold air. The air that your air conditioning unit is supplying must be evenly distributed throughout your home via the ventilation system. Without proper ventilation, you end up with the dreaded “Hot Zone”!

Too many people just “live with” their hot zone - thinking that there’s nothing you can do about it.But once they discover the causes behind the issue, the air conditioning complications quickly become less daunting. It’s entirely possible that the issue is caused by bad insulation or air leaks around windows. But could it be that this “hot zone” is warning you of bigger issues with your air conditioning system? Let’s consider some other possible causes:

The air conditioner could be short-cycling

According to “sometimes systems can go through fast and frequent cycles due to a number of possible factors. This is known as “short cycling.” If your air conditioner is short cycling, it can increase your energy bills, put your system through excess wear-and-tear and make it hard for your home to stay comfortable.”  There are multiple possible causes for this problem:

  1. An oversized AC

  2. Leaking refrigerant

  3. Dirt along the coils

  4. A broken thermostat.

If you think that these things could be causing your “hot zone”, be sure to call your cleveland air conditioner repair service.

The air filter could be clogged

It’s very easy to forget about your air conditioner’s air filter.  The filter on the heating and cooling system needs to receive routine maintenance every 1 to 3 months.  Otherwise, it will choke off airflow.  As a result, the further away a room is from the air conditioning unit, the less cool air they’ll receive.

The air conditioner could be too old

If your air conditioning unit is more than 15 years old, it may be time to upgrade.  With age, an a/c unit can lose it’s general cooling power all together.  It may be time to consider a new heating and cooling installation.  Any Cleveland air conditioner installer will be able to provide you with an hvac inspection as well as different options for your new air conditioning unit if necessary.  Once installed, be sure to sign up for an air conditioner maintenance service to keep everything up to date, clean, and functioning optimally.
